Road Trip to National Parks 5 Tips & Tricks - Free Printable!

One of my bucket list items is to visit all 62 (and counting) US National Parks.  Since my husband is Air Force we have had the opportunity to explore quite a bit of the US between duty stations.

We just got back from a second road trip up to Maine where one of the places we explored was Acadia National Park.  I thought it would be fun to create a checklist for all the US National Parks plus a fun search and find activity sheet for my kids.  Scroll down to the bottom for the free printables!

5 quick tips:

Did you know the National Park Service gives US military members a free pass for the year?  We showed my husbands active duty military ID and they gave us a pass that was good for a year!

Another tip if you visit National Parks with kids is their Junior Ranger Program.  My kids have loved stopping at the ranger station and getting the booklet.  If you don’t finish take it home!  There is lots of good information and activities in it for kids.  Plus if you finish and being it back the Park Ranger will give you a Junior Ranger pin for that location.

Stay hydrated!  I pack each of us a reusable water bottles.  With Covid precautions not all the water fountains were accessible.  We bought a few jugs of purified drinking water from the store and kept them in the car to refill our water bottles throughout the day.

I always pack lunch and snacks.  When we are inside a National Park lunch time varies so when the kids get hungry we don’t have to stop and look for food.  Plus it saves money since restaurants inside National Parks tend to be on the more expensive side.

On the road I always pack activity sheets like the free printable for my kids to fill out.  They love search and find or I spy sheets as well as coloring and word search sheets.
