Things are always chaos around here and packing up for a road trip during a power outage in the summer is no different! Luckily the kids are good travelers and can sit in their car seats/seats for long drives with no problem. We always love exploring new places!
We were unsure when our power would be restored but Con Ed estimates not for another week! Without power in the middle of summer our house was just getting to hot for us so we decided to drive up to Maine. Since we had never been before we decided to keep things simple and planned to explore Portland and Acadia for the week in case our power was restored. There would be a lot of clean up when we returned....
I get a lot of questions about what car we drive. We drive a Honda Pilot with seating for 8. What can we fit? A lot!
For this road trip, we brought along:
-baby jogger city select double stroller with basinet like this one
-Guava family lotus playpen like this one
-boppy nursing pillow like this one
-Yeti cooler like
-Beach mat like
-snacks (of course)
-small PBK backpacks which are currently on sale for the older 4 kids. I can easily fit 3 sets of clothing for each kid, 2 swim suits, a pair of flip flops, tooth brush, water bottle plus headphones, kindle fire and a tooth brush.
This time I used my Vera Bradley duffle similar to this one to pack up my my items, things for my 1 year old and newborn.
My husband used his military large backpack similar to to pack up himself and a DSLR camera.
I will do a separate post with highlights of our trip!

We just upgraded to a Pilot because I did a road trip with two kids alone in an HRV and it was jam packed. Forget about if my husband or the dogs needed to come! The Pilot is amazing! Hope you had fun.
