Girl Trip to Arizona - Day 1 & 2

This week I met up with my bestie Priscilla for a girl trip.  It was my first kid and hubby free trip since my oldest daughter was 9 months old!  I don't know why I've waited so long but I am so glad that we went.  It was an amazing long weekend to explore the outdoors with my bestie.

We packed in as much as we could in the three full days that we had.  Flew into Phoenix Wednesday night picked up our rental car and we were off to Sedona, AZ.  Spent the night at Hampton Inn Sedona which worked out perfectly for us since they had a free breakfast the next morning.  Checked out and off we were for some hiking and exploring.

Sedona is gorgeous!  End of January was actually really nice because it wasn't hot and in my opinion wasn't too cold.  40 in the morning then by mid day 50 and afternoon closer to 60.

First up was Devils Bridge trail which was about 4 miles roundtrip.   Parking lot is a bit on the small side but we found a spot easily.  The hike/walk is also easy and you could cut down at least 1 mile of it if you have a 4x4 to drive closer to the trail entrance.  There is a little incline with some rock steps but in my opinion wasn't difficult.  You can walk around and onto the devil bridge which we did.  There is also an overlook on the way there.  It has a beautiful view!

Airport Mesa Viewpoint.  This showed up as must see so we went but I don't know if it was worth it.  There are several rock formations to see in Sedona and this was just a lookout point.  The parking lot charges $3 or if you are like us we took a risk by parking at the nearby motel for a few minutes then continued on our way.

Soldier pass trail was a short walk maybe 1 mile roundstrip to see 7 sacred pools and devils kitchen sinkhole.  The only downside is there are only 15 parking spots and you cannot park in the nearby neighborhood streets.  So we waited about 15 minutes for a spot to open up.

We had lunch at Wildflower bread company.  It is similar to Panera where you order at the counter and someone brings you the food.  There was a nice outdoor seating area with a view of the beautiful red rock.

Next was Cathedral Rock.  This was a bit of a trek and had a short moderately challenging rock scrambling/climb at the end.  Being 6 months pregnant, I found I needed a few breaks along the way because of the uphill trek. The rock scramble/climb at the end is no joke but it also isn't overly difficult because it was easy to find foot holds and grooves for your hands. The rock was not slippery and people all seemed to give the climbers coming down right of way which makes sense.  The top of Cathedral Rock has an amazing view and you can continue onto the vortex but it was further than I wanted to hike that day.

After a busy day, we headed out of Sedona and drove up to Page, AZ for dinner at El Tapatio.  The portions were huge and the food delicious.  We really liked the table side guacamole appetizer along with their complimentary chips and salsa.

After dinner, we checked into the Courtyard Marriott in Page.
