We decided to get an early start so we headed out early to Horseshoebend overlook. Parking cost $10 and the walk from the parking lot to the bend is about 1 mile. The view is gorgeous and because we headed out early it was not crowded.
On our way to our Antelope Canyon tour we stopped at the Glen Dam. It was nearby and an impressive dam.
We booked a 9:45am tour for lower Antelope Canyon through Dixie Ellis company. It was about 1 hour total with only 45 minutes inside the Canyon. The tour guide was amazing. She explained that we would see different shapes as we made our way through the canyon: V frame, Parallel, and A frame. She also showed up different rock formations, lighting and duplicated shots others had done for art or screen savers!
For lunch we decided to just snack in the car and make our way up to Zion national park so we could still explore there. First stop was the visitor center where we found out the shuttle bus was out of order. No problem, we checked which trails were open and decided to drive up to Temple of Sinawava for the Riverside walk. Next stop was Big bend observation point.
Followed by the Grotto. We took the Kayenta trail to see the upper emerald pools. The hike was a lot of up and down with many steps. It felt like a long walk because of all the uphill but it was beautiful!
Another stop was to see the Court of Patriarchs.
Then we made the drive back to Page, AZ for dinner. We decided to try Fiesta Mexicana family and we were smarter this time by ordering a beef queso appetizer and chicken taco salad entree to share. The portions are large and the food was good.
After another fun full day, we spent the night at the Courtyard Marriott in Page, AZ.
