Make It Yourself! Potstickers

Chinese New Year is tomorrow and with that comes the tradition of making noddles and potstickers.  This is one of the few times I will not be celebrating CNY with my parents and the kiddos were worried I wouldn’t make them.

What you’ll need:
Potsticker press similar to this one (you can crimp with a fork or cold and press by hand but that nifty gadget will saves a ton of time!)
2 lb ground pork
1 bag broccoli slaw
2 pkgs potsticker wrappers
Large bowl
1 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp five spice powder (can be found at any Asian grocery store or here on Amazon
3 tbsp rice wine
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp canola oil

In a large bowl mix the ground pork and all the seasonings together.  Cover and let marinate overnight.  Mix meat and then add in broccoli slaw.

Take 1 potsticker wrapper and place on top of the potsticker press. Dab water around edges like sealing an envelope.  Add about 1 tbsp of filling in the middle.

Close potsticker press and make sure all edges are crimped.  If you don’t have a press then either use a fork and go around the outside or crimp by hand.

Place completed potstickers on floured tray and continue until all the filling/wrappers are done.

Heat a large pan with oil and place potstickers about 2 inches apart.  Add 1/4c of water and cover the pan.  Move potstickers around to crisp up all sides.  This takes about 2 mins each side.  Make sure not to let them burn!

Ta da!  Homemade potstickers 🥟.  A family favorite all year long but especially for CNY.  Gung Hay Fat Choy!  Sun neen fa lok!  Wishing you all a happy year of the pig.
