Laying around in bed after having my new baby boy, I wanted to find a quick and easy project that I could do while he napped. I found a cute knitted hat pattern here but decided to make my own version.
I used size US 5 needles and some extra yarn I had laying around.
I decided to cast on 38. I wanted a ribbed band so I K2P2 for 8 rows before switching to 1 row of K and 1 row of P for 28 rows then transfer to stitch holder. Repeat entire process to make the back of the hat and use a three needle bind off to connect the two pieces on top. Stitch together on either side and viola!
The hat fit my newborn perfectly! He's just under 8 lbs.
