Make It Yourself! Ciopino

I’ve had ciopino a few times at restaurants but I like making it at home even more!  You decide what seafood to put in and it’s always a fun meal to share with family or friends.  Simple ingredients and it’s always a big hit!  It’s been a few years so I can’t remmeber where we found the original recipe but we have changed a few things here and there too.

Basic recipe (makes 1 extra large stock pot):

1/2 c butter
6 robs of celery - chopped
2 onions - diced
105 oz crushed tomato
2 jars claim juice
1/2 - 1 bottle of white wine
4 cloves garlic
1 lemon juiced
2 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce
3 bay leaves
3 teaspoon dried basil
3 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 - 1 teaspoon red pepper flake (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 bundle parsley - chopped

Seafood (your choice but I add the following):
2 whole crabs (broken up) - I used pre cooked crab from Costco
4 lb white fish fillet - cut into chunks
1 package of Costco seafood mix- Squid, prawns, clams or mussels

This easily feeds about 10-12 people.
