DIY Headband

My daughters hair is getting long but not yet long enough for one pony tail holder so I decided to make her a headband.

What you need:
Scraps of fabric, enough to make 2 strips of 14 by 3 & 9 by 2 inches
Elastic
Head measurement
Sewing machine
Thread

First, cut out fabric for top portion of headband measuring 14 by 3 inches then a second piece for the bottom portion measuring 9 x 2 inches.  Then fold larger rectangle long ways so it is 14 x 1.5 and cut tapered edge.  Sew wrong edges together and turn right side out.

Sew edges in of small rectangle then thread elastic through and secure at one end.  Pull elastic to desired tightness and secure at other end.

Tuck in edges of headpiece and sew together.
